New Night Riders's album "Meta", more dense, more raw, more sophisticated than the previous one "Future Noir" (Svn Svn Rcrds / C'est ça, 2014) is out on PV.
The band evolved, there’s no doubt. The trio was hanging us in space and brought us back on Earth.
Meticulously recorded and produced by the band in their own studio, "Meta" marks a change that has occurred over the past two years.
It reflects a more open approach, a willingness to put themselves in difficulty. Naturally, Night Riders has invited two exciting musicians : their friend and master of balafon Lansiné Kouyaté, and the talented french saxophonist Thomas de Pourquery.
On "Meta" the trio continues its down deep descent and blurs the tracks more and more. The border between the songs is less clear and the expectation of the nonexistent "hit" more frustrating. On a background made of a spleen at their image, the tension is palpable from the first notes.
Freed from the shackles, Night Riders offers us a singular universe, and plunges headlong into an increasingly complex maze.
